To cut a part out with the Glowforge, you will need a 2D drawing in the form of a PDF file. You can generate such a file by creating a drawing from a sketch OR a part in OnShape.
From a part studio, right click on the part you would like to cut out and select create a drawing.
From a sketch, the process is very similar. You just right click on the sketch that you wish to create a drawing of and then follow the same process as above.
Use the following settings:
When you click OK, you will get to place your views on the drawing. ONLY place the view you wish to cut. Make sure you set the scale to 1:1.
If you don't get your settings right, you can always change them here later...
Hit escape after you place your first view.
To remove unwanted drawing marks, right click the drawing and choose Show/hide
Now you are ready to export! Right click on the tab and choose export.
Export with the following settings:
Your part should show up in the bottom of your browser or in your downloads folder in the computer. .
Now navigate to app.glowforge.com and sign in with the classroom credentials (find these on a paper near the Glowforge).
Choose Create a new design…
Now enter the settings for your cut (this will depend A LOT on the material you are using. Reference this for some guidance, but it is best to double check your settings with an instructor until you are comfortable with the machine!
